Another ERP Project Causes Problems

Another ERP project has been blamed for business problems. This time the issue is with an upgrade to an existing SAP implementation at Ingram Micro in Australia. The company has blamed the upgrade for the declining operating and net income over the past quarter. The company's net income over the quarter to April 2nd this year dropped 19.9 percent to $56.3 million, compared with the same quarter in 2010.

Ingram Micro began the phased migration to the upgraded system more than three years ago and it has so far been implemented in Belgium, New Zealand, Indonesia, Chile and Singapore. The company expected the upgrade in Australia to cause minor inconvenience but a number of "complications" is believed to have caused the dramatic drop in income.
